Alabama Crimson Tide (-280) vs. LSU Tigers (+255)

What’s better than a Saturday SEC matchup? The Crimson Tide will travel to Baton Rouge for a rivalry game against the Tigers.

Alabama leads the conference but is coming off a tough loss to Auburn on Wednesday night. There were two points we’ll focus on from that game that will be relevant for this Saturday matchup. The first was turnovers.

The Crimson Tide had 15 turnovers in that game against Auburn. Simply put, that will lose you the game every time. It’s unlikely they’ll post that many in this game considering some of the issues LSU has had on defense but, as a AP Top 25 team, Alabama will need to better to make a run in March.

One positive note, the Tide held Auburn to just 26.3 percent from behind the arc. That’s partly because Auburn just isn’t a good three point shooting team but the ‘Bama defense is usually very solid in that position.

To credit LSU, they’ve played fairly well defensively this year but will need a near perfect showing to slow down the high-powered Alabama offense. One factor in which the Tigers have under-performed is in three-point shooting. They’ve allowed the second most attempts and the second most made threes of any team in the conference.

This bodes poorly against an Alabama team that leads the conference in threes made, threes attempted and ranks third in three point shooting percentage.

With all that in mind, the spread is seven in favor of the Crimson Tide with a 166.5 point total. Bet on Alabama on the spread here as they’ll run away with this one.
