James Rowson was offered the Yankees’ hitting coach job, The Post has learned.
The sides were just going through final elements, but the strong expectation was that Rowson will replace Sean Casey, who replaced Dillon Lawson at the All-Star break last season.
Among those who interviewed for the job were Mets bench coach Eric Chavez and Dodgers minor league hitting instructor Tim Laker.
Rowson, 47, has just completed his first year as the Tigers assistant hitting coach.
Rowson was the Yankees’ minor league hitting coordinator for six years.
He also was the hitting coach for the Cubs and Twins, and the Marlins bench coach.
