Pat McAfee summed up Mark Wahlberg’s much-maligned “ManningCast” appearance in one word: “Horrendous.”
The former NFL punter-turned-sports media personality did not hold back Wednesday when discussing Wahlberg’s less-than-enthused appearance on ESPN’s alternative broadcast of “Monday Night Football,” where he joined Peyton and Eli Manning for the Chiefs-Eagles game.
“‘Monday Night Football’ with Peyton and Eli with 1.9 million viewers, the show’s best in more than two years. Somebody should have told Mark Wahlberg that people were watching that show,” McAfee said on the latest installment of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“He was horrendous.”
Wahlberg, 52, was the first guest on Monday’s “ManningCast,” with viewers subsequently quipping on X that the “Ted’ star had “zero interest” being there.
“Mark Wahlberg had zero interest in being on the ManningCast,” one X user posted.
Another user remarked, “I dare anyone to give less energy to an appearance than Mark Wahlberg is giving on tonight’s ManningCast.”
“Mark Wahlberg looks like he wants to be nowhere near the Manning Cast right now,” a separate user said.
Though McAfee lauded Wahlberg’s movies and business ventures, he opined Wednesday, “You don’t have to talk to two Hall of Famers on ‘Monday Night Football.’”
“You don’t have to be here, Marky Mark,” McAfee said.
When it was suggested the appearance was scheduled past Wahlberg’s bedtime, McAfee quipped, “Maybe that was him walking in his sleep.”
Wahlberg had the internet spinning in 2018 when he unveiled his daily schedule which consisted of a 2:30 a.m. wake-up call, multiple workouts and a 7:30 p.m. bedtime.
He told TODAY.com in October that some elements of his schedule have evolved.
“I’ve been going like, 3:30 wake-up, 4 o’clock in the gym, kind of finish that, get my reading and my prayer time done, and then start the process of waking them up, which usually ends up taking — I’m up and down the stairs at least three times to get the teenagers up, and I get them off to school, and then I usually start the rest of my day,” Wahlberg said.
Wahlberg and wife Rhea Durham share four children.
