Things finally Boyle-d over this week with the Jets.

Coach Robert Saleh benched quarterback Zach Wilson after another dismal performance in Buffalo and replaced him with Tim Boyle for Friday’s game against the Dolphins.

Can Boyle give life to an offense that has scored one touchdown in its past 46 possessions?

It won’t be easy against a Dolphins defense that has hit its stride in its past three games.

The Jets are going to have to keep up with the track team that is the Miami offense.

“I think my priority this week is going to be getting the ball out on time,” Boyle said, “not trying to take sacks, so I think just getting the ball in our playmaker’s hands, letting them have fun with it, and just keeping us on pace. I want to get down in the red zone and score some points. I think that’s going to be an important focus for us this week. Just getting down there and putting points on the board. Especially against a potent offense like the Dolphins have.”

The 7-3 Dolphins are loaded on offense with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on the outside catching passes from Tua Tagovailoa.

They are No. 1 in scoring and total offense.

For the 4-6 Jets, the move to Boyle is a Hail Mary to try to keep the season afloat with the hope that Aaron Rodgers can return next month.

If the Jets lose this Black Friday game, it will be hard for even the most optimistic Jets fan to see a way the team makes the playoffs.

This will be Boyle’s fourth career start.

He started three games for the Lions in 2021 and lost all three, throwing three touchdowns and nine interceptions.

The Jets believe Boyle will be more decisive and get the ball out quicker than Wilson, which will help behind their banged-up offensive line.

“You have to feel like you’re dangerous out there,” Boyle said. “You can’t go into a play or a series thinking with any doubt, so I think confidence is critical. Going in there and feeling like I’m the guy, I’m not going to miss, and that’s kind of the focus. Confidence is everything playing quarterback.”

The Jets are trying to end a three-game losing streak and provide some hope as the season shifts to December.

No one would have thought before the season that their hopes would ride on Tim Boyle, but here we are.
