Tommy DeVito has won the hearts of Giants fans everywhere, but he’s far from the mind of Vegas oddsmakers.
Despite an unbelievable, month-long run in which he’s led the downtrodden Giants to a 3-1 record over a fairytale four games, Tommy Cutlets is an afterthought in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has all but run away with the award, but DeVito isn’t so much as making it onto the oddsboards at most major sportsbooks.
DeVito is currently listed at just one sportsbook — DraftKings — to win the award.
There, the hometown hero is listed at +25000, tied with four other rookies for the 13th-best odds.
While six games and four starts aren’t nearly enough to truly compete for the award, if DeVito keeps playing like this, he’ll start getting a lot more love from oddsmakers.
Overall, DeVito has thrown for 855 yards (6.8 per attempt) with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
He’s been even better during his four starts, three of which ended with a win for Big Blue.
During starts, DeVito has thrown seven touchdowns with just one interception with a 105.7 quarterback rating and 170.3 passing yards per game.
DeVito is coming off his best game of the season, a 24-22 upset of the Green Bay Packers.
Betting on the NFL?
The undrafted New Jersey native tossed for 158 yards and a touchdown and also added 71 yards on the ground, keeping the Giants in the NFC playoff hunt.
While DeVito has defied the odds, he isn’t in Stroud’s sphere for this award.
Even if he doesn’t play another game, Stroud — a -20000 favorite at DraftKings — is essentially guaranteed to win the award.
But with a strong finish, DeVito could – and should – make it onto at least a few more OROY oddsboards.
