Noteworthy items during the Mets’ Grapefruit League action on Saturday:
No way, Jose
In his final start of the exhibition season, Jose Quintana allowed five earned runs on three hits and four walks over three innings in the Mets’ 13-5 loss to the Astros.
The left-hander, whose next appearance is scheduled for the season opener on Thursday, finished the Grapefruit League with a 6.19 ERA.
Plugging along
Mark Vientos went 1-for-2 with a single and raised his OPS to .795 with a team-leading five homers this spring.
Vientos is facing uncertainty about his status following J.D. Martinez’s arrival.
Caught my eye
Jeff McNeil is off to an 0-for-7 start after his first game action of the spring was delayed until last Tuesday because of biceps discomfort early in camp.
Sunday’s schedule
Luis Severino will get the ball against the Nationals in Port St. Lucie and Tylor Megill will face the Marlins in Jupiter, Fla.
