7 MLB betting promos to use on Opening Day, any game

If you’re looking to pad your bankroll before MLB Opening Day, the biggest U.S. sportsbooks have plenty of new-user promos available that can be used on MLB, the NCAA Tournament, or any other games this week.

MLB Betting Promos for New Users

BetMGM has three total different offers available depending on your state and preferences. None are available in New York or Nevada.

North Carolina: Use promo code NYPNEWS and you’ll get $150 in bonus bets after a $10 deposit and $5 wager.

In most other states: Pick between first bet insurance up to $1,500 also with code NYPNEWS, or a 20% deposit match with NYPNEWS1600.

The insurance works like it does at most other sportsbooks — if your first bet loses, you’ll be refunded in bonus bets equal to what you lost.

So say you bet $100 on the Yankees at +130 against the Astros. If the Yankees win, you’ll profit $130, keep your $100 wager, and the promo is over. If they lose, you’ll get back $100 in bonus bets.

The deposit match tacks on 20% extra bonus bets to your account (with a max deposit of $8,000), but it comes with a 10x rollover. That means you must wager 10x your bonus amount in the first 30 days, or you forfeit the bonus.

2. FanDuel

FanDuel has a slightly different offer in North Carolina than the rest of its states. But their bonus bets are advantageous since they don’t come split up into smaller increments — you can use them all on one bet, or split them up into dozens of $1 or $5 bets.

Here are the offers:

• In NC, you’ll get $200 in bonus bets after a $5 wager no matter the result.
• In all other states, you’ll get $200 in bonus bets if your first $5 wager wins. But there’s no minimum odds requirement, so bet as big a favorite as you can find to give yourself the best chance at locking in the bonus bets.

3. Fanatics Sportsbook

• Promo code: None needed
• Offer: $100 bet match for 10 days
• States: CO, CT, IA, IN, KY, MD, MA, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV

Fanatics has a slightly different style of offer than most of its competitors right now. Each day for your first 10 days on the platform, they’ll match your first bet in bonus bets, up to $100. It doesn’t matter if those bets win or lose.

So say on Day 1 I make my first bet on the Yankees +130 for $100. I’ll get $100 bonus bets if they win or lose. Then on Day 2, I don’t make a bet. I get $0. On Day 3, I bet $50 on the Mets +100. I’ll get $50 if they win or lose.

If you max this offer out every day for 10 days, you’ll earn $1,000 in total bonus bets.

4. ESPN BET

• Promo code: NPNEWSNC for North Carolina, NPNEWS all other states
• Offer: Bet anything, get $225 in NC; bet anything, get $150 in all other states. Both states also get deposit match up to $500
• States: AZ, CO, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NC, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV

ESPN BET has a two-part offer. In most states, you’ll get $150 in bonus bets after you deposit $10 and place a cash wager of any kind. In North Carolina, you’ll get $225 instead.

In all states, you’ll automatically be opted into a 200% deposit match up to $500. This means whatever you deposit, you’ll get 200% added on in Eligible Cashback up to $500 (meaning $250 is the max deposit here).

The Eligible Cashback unlocks as you bet, though. For every $1 wagered, 10 cents will unlock. So if I place a $100 bet, $10 of my bonus will turn into cash in my account. If I place a $50 bet, I’ll get $5.

5. DraftKings

• Offer: Bet $5, get $250 in NC, bet $5, get $150 in all other states

DraftKings’ offer is straightforward. Just deposit $10, bet $5, and you’ll get $150 in most states. In North Carolina, you’ll get $250.

The bonus bets come back in increments of $25, so if you get the $150, you’ll get six, $25 bonus bets and you have seven days to use them.

6. bet365

• Promo code: NYPNEWS
• Offer: $150 bonus bets ($200 in NC) or $1,000 safety net
• States: AZ, CO, IA, IN, KY, LA, NC, NJ, OH, VA

At bet365, you’ll get a choice of offer in all 10 states. Use promo code NYPNEWS in all those states and for both offers.

In North Carolina, you’ll get a choice of $200 in bonus bets or a $1,000 first bet safety net.

In the nine other states, you’ll choose between $150 and the $1,000 safety net.

As we explained last week, it makes sense to take the safety net if you plan on wagering at least $700 on your first bet. If not, take the $200 bonus bets.

7. Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars has three offers depending on what state you’re in.

In most states, you’ll get first bet insurance up to $1,000. In Iowa, Maryland and Maine, you’ll get 10, 100% profit boosts.

They have a max bet of $25 and max extra winnings of $1,000. So if you bet the Mets at +100 for $25 and they win, your bet would payout $50 instead of the normal $25, plus you get your $25 wager back.

Then in North Carolina, you’ll get $250 in bonus bets with a $10 wager.
