A top NFL defensive prospect was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Former Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat was booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin, Texas on Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports, and is facing a Class B misdemeanor charge after being arrested by Austin police.
Sweat was booked at 2:12 p.m. Central time, and the charge carries the possibility of a fine of up to $2,000 and 180 days in jail, according to ESPN.
The former Longhorns defensive player was spotted leaving the jail later Sunday afternoon alongside his attorney, who did not make any comments to KXAN News, NBC’s local affiliate, as they left.
Sweat had a towel or shirt over his head, covering his face as he walked out of the jail.
It’s unclear when he will be due back in court regarding the matter.
Neither Sweat nor his attorney addressed a question about the impact that it could have on his stock for this month’s NFL draft.
Sweat is among the top defensive prospects in this year’s draft class, with ESPN ranking him the third-best defensive tackle prospect and CBS Sports listing him as the No. 87 overall prospect in the draft.
He is expected to go in the second or third round of the draft after having an impressive season at Texas.
Sweat earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, along with being named an All-American and Outland Trophy winner.
During his final season in Austin, he recorded 45 tackles, 18 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups and one blocked kick.
Sweat also scored a touchdown in the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma.
If his name sounds familiar, he is also the younger brother of Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat.
