New York Ranger fans have been deemed the third most aggressive fan base out of all 32 National Hockey League teams, a chilling new study found.
A whopping 44% of the 286 Blueshirts surveyed by Casino.org confessed to unruly behavior, including taunting, trash-talking, throwing food, and even dropping the gloves against rival fans.
The feisty Garden faithful gets into the second-most fights of all fan bases, with 11% admitting that they’d brawled with opposing fans.
Chicago Blackhawks’ fans were more violent, with 22% confessing to tussles inside the arena.
One in three Rangers fans said they boo the opposing team, and a frosty one in four said they cheered when a rival gets injured.
Their icy attitude toward opponents earned the Blueshirt boosters an overall “aggression score” of 82.8% — behind only Chicago fans (96.9%) and Colorado Avalanche fanatics (94%).
Good-mannered New York Islanders fans were considered the 31st most hostile, second to last, with a score of 8.3%. The gentlest fans root for the Ottawa Senators (5.5%).
