After 114 points during the regular season and 10 more wins in the playoffs, the Rangers’ quest for another Stanley Cup will extend into next season.
The Blueshirts fell to the Panthers, 2-1, in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday night in Sunrise, Fla, despite getting a late goal from Artemi Panarin with 1:40 remaining in the third period to make it a one-goal game.
Florida used an early goal by Sam Bennett to take a 1-0 lead, and then former Rangers forward Vladimir Tarasenko added the second tally in the third period.
And with the Blueshirts, especially their stars, still struggling, that two-goal lead was enough for the Panthers to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, where they’ll face the winner of the Stars and Oilers.
