There was some animosity between fans in the upper deck of Citi Field during the Subway Series.
As the Yankees played the Mets this week, one fan uploaded a video to TikTok of an unpleasant interaction between a couple of fans in which there was a young Yankees fan in an Aaron Judge jersey standing up in the first row of the section, and another fan who felt that the boy made a better door than window.
“Down in front!” the upset adult screamed in the direction of the kid.
When there was no immediate movement, the man yelled, “Judge, have a seat! I can’t see home plate.”
At this point a man, presumably of some relation to the boy, turned around and said, “Shut the f–k up!”
The man continued to complain, “You have to see through him. Dude, I can’t see home plate!”
The father turned around and yelled, “Grow the f–k up!”
“Grow the f–k up? Nice. Teach your kid right,” the man who could not see home plate responded, “I’m not yelling at the kid. Tell him to have a seat.”
It is likely that this was a Yankees fan Civil War, as the man who was upset about his sightline getting compromised was sitting next to a boy who was also wearing a Judge jersey.
The Mets won both matchups in the two-game series, winning a 9-7 game on Tuesday and notching a 12-2 victory on Wednesday.
The Yankees fell to 52-30 and are clinging to a one-game lead over the Orioles in the AL East.
At 39-39, the Mets are a probably insurmountable 13 games behind the Phillies in the NL East, but are only 1.5 games behind the Cardinals and Phillies in the NL Wild Card race.
