Angel Reese is the new queen of double-doubles, and it earned her some league recognition.
The Chicago Sky forward was named WNBA Rookie of the Month after averaging 14.5 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 32.0 minutes per game across 11 outings in June.
Despite the Sky’s 70-62 loss to the Lynx on Sunday, Reese, 22, made WNBA history at Wintrust Arena.
She recorded her 10th straight double-double with a late free throw to surpass two-time MVP Candace Parker’s mark of nine straight from 2015.
Reese tallied 10 points and 16 rebounds.
The former LSU standout added an 11th straight double-double with 12 points and 19 rebounds in Sky’s over Atlanta on Tuesday.
Reese’s mother, Angel Webb Reese, was in the stands as her daughter nailed the free throw that gave her the 10th consecutive double-double.
She joined the loud crowd in Chicago, double-high-fiving a fan in front of her.
“She’s gonna continue to do what she does, that’s who she is, she’s always gonna come out and play hard and confident and give you everything that she has,” Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon told reporters, according to ESPN.
“She’s the hardest person on herself, so proud of what she’s doing and what she’ll continue to do.”
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark previously earned the Rookie of the Month honor in May.
The guard, before Tuesday’s play, led all the 2024 rookies in scoring (17.6 points per game), field goals made (46), 3-pointers made (24), free throws made (42), assists per game (6.6) and minutes played (33 per game).
While Reese and Clark are both vying for the WNBA Rookie of the Year title, the two will join forces as teammates on the WNBA All-Star team that will play Team USA as a lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The matchup will take place at Footprint Center in Phoenix on July 20.
