A brutal weather week has handed the Yankees their second doubleheader in four days.
Friday’s series opener against the Rangers at Yankee Stadium has been postponed by the forecast for inclement weather.
The teams will now play a single-admission doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:05 p.m.
The Yankees had Tuesday’s series opener against the Angels postponed by rain, which resulted in a Wednesday doubleheader that they split.
The three games in two days — along with Luis Gil, Will Warren and Nestor Cortes combining for only 14 innings — took a toll on the Yankees bullpen, though Friday’s postponement should help in that regard.
Carlos Rodon was scheduled to start Friday with Gerrit Cole following on Saturday and Marcus Stroman — pushed back to work on his mechanics after Tuesday’s postponement — going Sunday.
The Yankees did not immediately announce how Friday’s postponement might alter their pitching plans.
