The Mets head to the City by the Bay for a three-game set against the Giants this weekend.
They’ll send Clay Holmes to the mound on Friday night as he looks to rebound from a tough stretch of late.
The right-hander has a 5.66 ERA in July and has been getting hit around, allowing 21 hits in just 20 ⅔ innings.
After not allowing a single long ball through his first seven starts, Holmes has been unusually homer-prone, giving up 11 dingers in 72 innings over his last 13 outings.
Meanwhile, the Giants’ big addition, Rafael Devers, is beginning to figure it out.
The former Red Sox slugger had his first two-homer game for San Francisco on Wednesday in Atlanta.
Devers played first base for the first time in his MLB career on Tuesday and admitted after the game that he’s much more comfortable in the field than as a designated hitter.

“It keeps me active and it keeps my head out of just thinking of the next at-bat,” Devers said. “I’m the kind of player who likes to be active and likes to be on the field. I’d rather be on the field than be in the cage hitting all the time.”
Devers sees the ball well against Holmes, going 2-for-7 with a home run and a single in nine career plate appearances against him.

With Devers in a better mindset and Holmes headed in the wrong direction, I like the Giants’ star to keep heating up on Friday night.
Bet Devers to hit the Over on his total bases prop, but I like his chances to go yard if you’re looking for a little more juice.
The plays: Rafael Devers over 1.5 total bases (+140, bet365) and to hit a home run (+500, FanDuel)
