Takeaways from the Jets’ 48-20 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday:
1. The Jets defense did nothing well Sunday, so you can take your pick of what area you want to focus on. But one of the most shocking things Sunday — and really all season — was the lack of pass rush by the Jets defense. Trevor Lawrence barely felt any pressure in this game as he threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns. The Jets had zero sacks and just two quarterback hits in the game.
The Jets have two first-round picks at edge rusher with Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald IV, yet they can’t seem to put any pressure on opposing quarterbacks. McDonald has seven sacks this season, but four of them came in one game against the Browns. Johnson has three sacks.

With Brady Cook making his first career start, the Jets needed the defense to pick the team up. Instead, it let them down. It started with the lack of pressure on Lawrence, who had all day to find the wide-open receivers running through the Jets secondary, where, in fairness, the Jets had some backups and rookies playing. But not up front. These are supposed to be the stars of the Jets defense. They were invisible in this game.
