SAN FRANCISCO — Landry Shamet returned from a 25-game absence and scored six points in 16 minutes in the Knicks’ 126-113 loss to the Warriors on Thursday night.
It was Shamet’s first appearance since his shoulder was dislodged from its socket on Nov. 22. He shot 2 for 7 (all 3-pointers) with a steal but no rebounds or assists.
“He worked his tail off. Landry, he’s a worker, man,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said. “He was getting after it. It means a lot for him to play. He was in a great rhythm before he [got hurt]. He’s been out a while. It’s going to take some time for him to get back. But it’s exciting for him to be back and we’re going to be patient with him while he’s fighting to get back to where he was.”

Shamet has twice dislocated his shoulder in the last two seasons, leaving questions about whether it will continue to pop out without surgery. But he again opted against a procedure and returned for a second time.
Brown has often discussed the importance of Shamet’s perimeter defense. The Knicks entered Thursday ranked just 17th in defense.
“[Shamet] and [McBride] are our best on-ball defenders. … Landry is tough, he’s smart. On the defensive end of the floor he’s going to try to do every little detail at the highest level of efficiency he can,” Brown said recently. “With a competitive spirit defensively. And then offensively, man he runs. He puts a lot of pressure on the defense.”
Mitchell Robinson’s restriction remains in place: no back-to-backs.
The Knicks center was ruled out of Thursday night’s loss for load management of his surgically-repaired left ankle. Before Robinson played minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Kings, coach Mike Brown suggested that back-to-back appearances in the Bay Area were on the table.
“At the end of the day, it’s going to be the medical team’s choice,” Brown said. “As we’ve gone along, his minutes have increased and he’s been able to do more things in practice in terms of their eyes.”
But then Robinson, who hasn’t played in both games of a back-to-back set since 2023, logged just 19 minutes in Sacramento and was ruled out of Golden State.
