The season ended for the Giants on Jan. 4. The next day, players gathered for the last time to clean out their lockers and say their goodbyes. Interim head coach Mike Kafka and general manager Joe Schoen conducted exit interviews and the players went on their way.
Schoen then dove into his main responsibility, tasked by ownership to lead the search for the next head coach. Ever since Brian Daboll was dismissed 10 games into the season, Schoen spent plenty of time researching and putting together a list of candidates that swelled to more than 20 names.
Then came Jan. 6. The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 years running the show in Baltimore, a move the Giants did not anticipate happening. Instantly, Harbaugh rose to the top of the team’s wish list.
What followed was a whirlwind 15 days in the life of the franchise, from the day Harbaugh was fired to this past Tuesday, when he was introduced as the 21st head coach in franchise history.
