The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-2, but a couple of plays and five points away from being 2-0.
This Sunday, they will try to get in the win column when they travel to Minnesota.
Like most human beings, I’m not a fan of Chargers coach Brandon Staley.
I’ve always said when a team loses a lot of close games, it’s not a fluke.
It comes down to coaching decisions late in games, and Staley is one of the worst in that area.
Still, I have a hard time believing this line should be even.
If the Chargers had won those two games, they would be laying three points on the road.
Though I see a bit of value with the spread, the main reason for the pick is I’m down on the Vikings overall this season.
Offensive line issues and a defense that still allows too many big plays continue to hinder the Vikings.
Betting on the NFL?
In losses to Tampa Bay and Philadelphia, Minnesota’s defense allowed an average of 27 points.
The Chargers’ defense has been even worse, giving up 31 points per game, which is why the total for this game is 54 points — by far the highest on the board. In a shootout, I give the edge to Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ offense. Look for Herbert to make enough plays in the passing game to get the win.
The play: Chargers, +1
