Football season doesn’t end Sunday for Ben Bredeson like it does for the rest of the Giants.
Bredeson isn’t sure yet if he will be finished with exit meetings Monday in time to fly to Houston and join the rest of his family in watching his younger brother, Max, play for his alma mater Michigan against Washington in the College Football Playoff championship game.
“It’s fun seeing all the work he put in turn into some success,” Bredeson told The Post. “For him to be able to play for a national championship right now is pretty sweet to watch. He’s got bragging rights over me already — the kid has three Big Ten titles and I have zero.”
Bredeson will play the last game on his rookie contract either at center or left guard Sunday against the Eagles.
He was drafted by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh after playing under Jim Harbaugh at Michigan — so the Bredeson brothers certainly have their share of Harbaugh-isms.
“My brother always calls me and asks if we did things a certain way or if I’ve heard this story,” Bredeson said. “It seems like all those stories repeat themselves every year, so it’s cool we have a lot of the same experiences.”
It could be Harbaugh’s final game at Michigan.
The annual pursuit to get him to return to the NFL might be more enticing after he was suspended twice for three games this season — once by the NCAA for alleged violations during the COVID-19 pandemic and once by the Big Ten for violating its sportsmanship policy as it relates to sign-stealing from opponents.
“I don’t know how many people are doing that or what was going on — who knows?” Bredeson said. “I think the team did a great job sticking together through it all.”
Harbaugh was 44-19 as the 49ers coach from 2011-14.
“He does a great job of adjusting his coaching to different teams,” Bredeson said. “It’s very different, college and the NFL. College kids are figuring out their life. Here, it’s a different level of accountability and maturity. Having never experienced him in the NFL, I know what works, and I can see him handling it.”
Safety Jason Pinnock (toe) will not play against the Eagles and CB Deonte Banks (shoulder) is doubtful, so the Giants likely will start the game with the same secondary that finished last week: Dane Belton and Nick McCloud joining Adoree’ Jackson and Xavier McKinney.
Center John Michael Schmitz (shin) was listed as questionable. QB Tyrod Taylor (back) was limited during Friday’s practice.
Because general manager Joe Schoen favors adding playing time and production-based incentives into contracts, some players will have a lot on the line Sunday for their bank accounts.
“Sure, you’re aware of it,” head coach Brian Daboll said. “Any of those players that have anything like that, I mean, heck, I want them to have 200 yards or seven sacks. Anything that can help us win the game.”
OTs Evan Neal (fracture in ankle) and Tyre Phillips (torn quad) both underwent surgeries Tuesday.
Neal visited Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte and Phillips’ operation was performed by team orthopedist Dr. Scott Rodeo in New York, per The Athletic.
RBs coach Jeff Nixon was officially named Syracuse’s offensive coordinator. He still will coach Sunday for the Giants.
