Bill Belichick’s surprising UNC interview is getting a lot of different reactions

Bill Belichick stirred headlines when he made his first red carpet appearance with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson at The Museum Gala in New York City on Thursday.

Just hours before that, multiple reports confirmed that the legendary NFL coach recently interviewed for the vacant head coach job at the University of North Carolina.

Belichick’s whirlwind week drew a multitude of reactions, including jokes about his red carpet date night and many questions about his college football interview.

“Dude is playing with fire trying to date someone 24 and be a college coach ha,” one person wrote on X.

“Bill Belichick trying to get his girlfriend free tuition?” another wrote.

On Thursday, CBS Sports said Belichick interviewing with UNC is “a giant publicity stunt” and it’s all part of a “carefully orchestrated dance that is a coaching search.”

A separate report by Sports Illustrated said Belichick has been in discussions with North Carolina for several days and has a genuine interest in the college game.

UNC fired Mack Brown, 73, in the sixth season of his second stint with the Tar Heels, on Nov. 26.

He led the program to a 44-32 record with five bowl appearances (four losses) in these last six years.

Belichick wants to returns to coaching in 2025 after taking his talents to ESPN this season.

His interview with the Tar Heels is the first known meeting at the college level since his breakup with the Patriots.

Belichick, 72, and the Patriots parted ways in January after 24 seasons, including six Super Bowl titles, nine AFC championships and 17 AFC East titles.

He interviewed last offseason for the Falcons job, which ultimately went to Raheem Morris.

Belichick previously turned down offers to join the 49ers and Rams as a defensive coordinator.

Belichick has since stayed busy despite stepping back from coaching.

He joined ESPN and regularly appears across a number of shows, including the “ManningCast” with Peyton and Eli Manning and “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Belichick and Hudson’s relationship was made public in June, when they stepped out for the first time together in Nantucket for a boat ride.

Photos obtained by The Post showed the couple aboard Belichick’s $225,000 boat named VIII Rings.

The couple also attended Tom Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Foxborough on June 12, as seen in a video shared online by the Patriots.

Belichick partnered with gaming company Underdog Fantasy to launch his own football show this past summer, and he joined Instagram.

Hudson, a former professional cheerleader, started posting Belichick on her Instagram in September.

Belichick and Hudson are said to have started dating after his 2022 split from Linda Holliday, whom he dated for 16 years.

They reportedly met on a plane ride in 2021.
