Caitlin Clark is already making friends in Indiana.
The No. 1 overall WNBA draft pick and her Fever teammates had a nighttime photo shoot on Wednesday, and during the event, two of Clark’s teammates let her borrow some chains to wear in an … ice-breaking moment.
In a video posted on X, the Fever showed some of the behind-the-scenes of the shoot, with Erica Wheeler and NaLyssa Smith both giving Clark their chains for her to wear.
Clark was all smiles as she donned both No. 1 and 17 chains, even taking a playful chomp out of Smith’s jewelry.
Clark and her teammates were smiling and laughing in the moment, and she even apologized for the bite.
Smith reposted the video onto her Instagram Story and added four crying laughing emojis.
Wheeler did the same on her story and also added a selfie she took with Clark along with a group shot of some of the Indiana squad posing in the middle of the street in Indianapolis.
Having some good times away from the court, Clark and Indiana will hope to have better times on it this season.
The Fever finished 13-27 this year but have brought in Clark, Division I basketball — women’s and men’s — all-time leading scorer following a prolific career at Iowa.
Her presence around the league has increased interest, and ticket sales already have seen a boom, as Stubhub announced Wednesday that the company saw a 93 percent increase in ticket sales for the WNBA compared to this point last year.
The company said the Fever have seen “sales skyrocketing 13-fold” after Clark was picked in the WNBA draft.
Clark said earlier this week that she’s ready to get things started on the court, which begins on Friday against the Wings in the preseason and in earnest on May 14 when the Fever take on the Sun in the regular-season opener.
“I think no matter what happens there’s going to be expectations and pressure on my shoulders and pressure on this team to be really good. That’s how you want it,” Clark said Monday, according to the Associated Press. “We wouldn’t want anything else. We want people showing up to our games, people expecting us to win a lot of basketball games this year and I’m expecting myself to play really well. I don’t think it’s anything that’s ever been different for me.”
