The Jim Harbaugh sweepstakes are heating up.
Fresh off a national championship, Harbaugh interviewed with the Chargers this week for their head coaching vacancy after nine seasons with the Michigan Wolverines.
As an early -150 favorite to land the football coaching legend, Los Angeles is the frontrunner for Harbaugh’s services next season, but it’s far from a shoo-in.
But the opportunity to stay in Ann Arbor and build on his already historic legacy at Michigan may be more enticing than a return to the NFL.
Harbaugh is currently +100 not to be the head coach of an NFL team — and, presumably, the head coach of the Wolverines — next season.
Here’s a look at the full, updated odds for Harbaugh’s 2024-25 destination as the rumor mill cranks up.
Jim Harbaugh next team odds
Los Angeles Chargers -150 |
Not the head coach of an NFL team +100 |
Any other NFL team +800 |
Las Vegas Raiders +1200 |
Washington Commanders +2500 |
Atlanta Falcons +3000 |
Chicago Bears +4000 |
Tennessee Titans +4500 |
After early playoff exits from marquee franchises such as the Cowboys and Eagles, “Any other NFL team” for Harbaugh, notably, ranks highly.
Neither the Cowboys nor Eagles have parted ways with their head coach as of this writing, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone in football if they join the market for a new one in the coming days.
Although Antonio Pierce is the leading candidate for the Raiders’ head coaching vacancy, the Las Vegas is the next individual team on the odds board at +1200 to land Harbaugh.
Betting on the NFL?
The Falcons, who are the favorites to hire Bill Belichick after meeting with the ex-Patriots coach over the weekend, are +3000 to be Harbaugh’s next destination.
With the Divisional Round set and little question about the coaching futures of the remaining teams, look for Harbaugh’s market — and the entire coaching carousel for that matter — to start taking shape over the next week or so.
