Collin Morikawa’s wife brought to tears after Pebble Beach Pro-am win

Katherine Morikawa was brought to tears on Sunday as her husband, two-time major champion Collin Morikawa, claimed his first PGA Tour victory in over two years at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am.

In footage shared Sunday on the PGA Tour’s Instagram account, Katherine is featured on the sideline at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in California, where she was overcome with emotion as Morikawa sank a birdie putt on the par-5 18th to clinch a 5-under 67 in the final round that put him in a solo first place at 22-under overall.

“The only two shots I saw on 18 were the last two putts because of the crowds. And I didn’t have signal to check the pga tour app. I wanted to make sure :),” Katherine wrote in the comments of the PGA Tour’s post.

Sunday’s triumph marked Morikawa’s first win since the Zozo Championship in October 2023.

He edged out the likes of Min Woo Lee, Sepp Straka, Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler, the latter of whom mounted a furious comeback after posting an even 72 in the opening round.

“Great field, great leaderboard — looking at it the entire day,” Morikawa said. “And just to be able to pull off those last two shots, it feels great.

Sitting in a three-way tie for first between Lee and Straka, Morikawa tapped in his final putt on the 18th before sharing an emotional embrace with Katherine, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

“Put golf aside, we’re actually expecting later this year, in a few months,” Morikawa said afterward. “We just started telling people this week, and we said what a better way and the best way to announce it to the world, if I was able to come out and win.”

Katherine, an avid runner, has been married to Morikawa, 29, since November 2022.

With Sunday’s win, Morikawa rose from No. 19 in the world to No. 5. He sits behind Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Fleetwood and Justin Rose, respectively.
