It’s a good thing Coach Prime isn’t a professor.
Deion Sanders went to school this week, when he was taught the actual location of one of America’s most famous landmarks that he described as “those four little heads.”
Describing the expectations he has for the Colorado team that has performed below what people expected, Sanders shared some words of wisdom while attempting to reference Mount Rushmore.
“My expectations are out of the darn park, you got to understand, c’mon man,” Sanders said during a press conference Tuesday. “What’s those little four heads that are in California? What do they call those? The people’s faces engraved?”
Taking the group of reporters a second to realize what he was talking about, they all collectively said Mount Rushmore, before a few added in “It’s in South Dakota.”
After being informed that the National Landmark, was in fact NOT in California, Sanders remained humble and admitted his mistake, saying he confused it with the Hollywood sign.
“It’s in where? I thought it was in LA all this time,” Sanders said sharing a laugh with the room. “Wow, My geography. That’s the Hollywood thing? That’s what I thought. I’m sorry.”
Sanders and his Buffaloes (4-7) are coming off one of the more brutal losses this year after Colorado was defeated by Pac-12 rival Washington State 56-14 last Friday in Pullman, Wash.
“This is the toughest stretch of probably my life,” Sanders said following the game when his team officially became ineligible for a bowl game appearance.
After finishing last season 1-11, Sanders was brought in to help turn the program around and it appeared he did just that, starting off the season 3-0 off upsets against last year’s national runner-up TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State.
Then the lull hit as the Buffs went 1-7 in their next eight games with their last win coming on Oct. 7, a 27-24 triumph over Arizona State.
While it seems to be a lost season in Sanders’ first year with the school, the team could still finish off with a bang when they head to 7-4 Utah on Saturday to close out the season.
