Doctor Anywhere bags $41M, looks to enter genAI game

Technology-enabled healthcare provider Doctor Anywhere from Singapore has raised another $40.8 million in a Series C funding extension round joined by Square Peg and Novo Holdings.

This brings its total investments since inception to nearly $200 million. It bagged $38.8 million in its previous Series C extension round.

WHAT IT’S FOR

In a statement, the company said it will use its fresh funds to “strategically drive next-generation healthcare innovation” and “deepen its presence in secondary care.”

Doctor Anywhere told Mobihealth News that they are looking to leverage generative AI “to propel innovative healthcare solutions” as part of its technology-led approach to healthcare delivery.

“Our initial focus is on improving healthcare delivery and efficiency across our services regionally. This entails enhancing patient experiences and outcomes through personalised healthcare offerings and creating seamless, integrated healthcare experiences. Simultaneously, our initiatives aim to relieve administrative burdens for providers, empowering healthcare professionals to concentrate their expertise on delivering exceptional care,” it explained.

The company is looking to incorporate generative AI to build new care solutions such as “predictive healthcare needs assessment” and “streamlined appointment scheduling.”

Meanwhile, it is betting on secondary care to capture its rising demand in Southeast Asia. “We continue to see strong regional demand for specialist care, owing to the region’s developing healthcare infrastructure and growing accessibility of such services, aided by telehealth and digital health platforms such as Doctor Anywhere’s telehealth app,” the company noted.

Doctor Anywhere recently expanded into specialist care through its acquisition of Asian Healthcare Specialists late last year.

Both product innovation and service expansion are part of its broader efforts to build a “vertically integrated digital healthcare ecosystem” in Southeast Asia. Doctor Anywhere is now present in six countries in the region, serving about 2.5 million users to date.

“These advancements aim to create a seamless and holistic health journey for our users while strengthening our capacity to provide personalised, inclusive, and borderless healthcare across the region.”

ON THE RECORD

“In the next phase of Southeast Asia’s healthcare evolution, our goal is to empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being with early detection and preventive measures against chronic illnesses. We’re excited about the possibilities that generative AI offers to advance this further,” Doctor Anywhere founder and CEO Lim Wai Mun said in a statement.
