Tyreek Hill revealed he’s been playing through a left wrist injury and that he aggravated it when he was detained by Miami-Dade police officers and put in handcuffs outside the Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium before the Dolphins’ Week 1 win over the Jaguars on Sept. 8.
Ahead of Miami’s 23-15 road victory over the Rams on Monday Night, the Dolphins wideout told ESPN’s Lisa Salters he’s been quiet about a torn ligament in his wrist that’s been bothering him since training camp — but it really became an issue due to his police encounter.
“That arrest messed me up and I’m not gonna let it stop me,” Hill told Salters.
The All-Pro wideout told Salters an MRI showed a torn ligament in his left wrist, and he played Monday despite being questionable due to the injury.
He did not mention the detainment’s effect when discussing his wrist after Monday’s game, per CBS.

“He said he’s been quiet about it because he hasn’t really known how to feel or what to do or how to deal because he’s not used to being injured,” Salters said on the ESPN broadcast.
Hill was handcuffed and taken to the ground by Miami-Dade police just hours before Miami’s win against the Jaguars in the season opener.

The South Florida Police Benevolent Association said in a statement at the time that Hill was detained for “driving in a manner in which he was putting himself and others in great risk of danger.”
Hill was then put in handcuffs for being “not immediately cooperative,” according to the PBA.
The scene was captured on police bodycam footage.
Hill received two citations as a result of his traffic stop, including careless driving and a seatbelt violation, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported at the time.
Despite his injury, Hill had three receptions for 16 yards, including his first touchdown catch since Week 1 when he caught a short touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa in the third quarter Monday.
It was the longest touchdown drought of his NFL career.
The Dolphins (3-6) host the Raiders (2-7) on Sunday.
