Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson are fed up with the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift naysayers.
In the latest installment of their “Calm Down” podcast, the Fox Sports personalities ripped those who don’t believe Swift is good for the NFL.
“We’re not going to win this situation,” Andrews said, “But I just listened to Colin Cowherd go on and on about the people saying Taylor Swift is ruining the NFL. No, she’s not.”
That’s when Thompson chimed in: “I’ve got 35 million reasons she ain’t ruining the NFL so let’s just go ahead and check the books on that one. Knock it off.”
Andrews explained that Fox had record viewership during the Lions-49ers NFC Championship last Sunday when the 49ers beat the Lions in Santa Clara, Calif.
“It was the most-watched NFC championship in 12 years — don’t think she’s ruining it,” Andrews said.
“Also, I sat and listened to somebody yesterday say, ‘I’m just so tired of the NFL with this,’ and I said, ‘Why? How is it affecting your life?’”
Andrews noted that Cowherd explained on his show, “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” that “during a three-and-a-half-hour game [Swift] was shown [on TV] for 25 seconds. He had a great point… Relax! Calm down! Calm down! This is so stupid,” Andrews said.
Andrews then “name-dropped” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and said she spoke to him about the Swift effect on the league the night before the AFC Championship game at M&T Bank Stadium — where Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens, 17-10, to punch their ticket to Super Bowl 2024.
Swift, 34, was in attendance and the couple nearly broke the internet when they shared a kiss on the field, where Kelce, also 34, told the “Cruel Summer” singer, “I love you.”
“I talked to [Goodell] about this, I have so many dads saying to me, ‘Do you know how great this is?’” Andrews said.
“… How bad is it now that we have young girls that want to watch the NFL? I think it’s frickin awesome, so calm down, go away. If you don’t want to watch it, don’t watch it. How is it affecting your life?”
Andrews sent a message directly to Swift and gushed over the singer’s whirlwind romance with the two-time Super Bowl champ.
“You know what, Taylor, so glad you were on that field to celebrate with your boyfriend,” Andrews said. “I frickin loved it. He looked so happy, so adorable. She works her ass off, she has to go to work now. Go celebrate with your man. I loved it.”
Thompson agreed.
“That’s exactly my point,” she said. “Anybody that wants to be a naysayer about that, that means you don’t like watching puppies, you don’t like rainbows and you don’t like a sunny day, like knock it off.
“You’re going to find something wrong with everything. And this is what we said from the beginning.”
Thompson went on to explain that she and Andrews don’t care if they lose podcast listeners because “all we do is talk about” Swift.
“It’s not necessarily about Taylor Swift. It’s about being happy, being joyful and having a global superstar — I know we’re not in their relationship but you can see that they’re happy… just let something be great,” Thompson said.
Andrews also praised Swift for supporting women and small businesses, as the popstar wore a necklace from the WEAR by Erin Andrews x Bauble Bar collection to the AFC Championship game.
“You want me to hate her and I’m not gonna do it,” Andrews said. “I’ve always loved her and I love her more now.”
Andrews and Thompson, who also works as a host for Fox Sports and “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon’s Prime Video, shipped a romance between Kelce and Swift before the couple were first linked last September.
In August, they suggested on their “Calm Down” podcast that Swift give their “fantastic friend Travis a try” and “go on a date” with the All-Pro NFLer.
Swift resumes her blockbuster Eras Tour next week and has four shows scheduled in Tokyo, including a performance the day before the Super Bowl, which will kick off on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.
The 12-time Grammy winner is planning on attending the big game, according to Page Six.
