PHILADELPHIA — Power has historically not been the problem for Francisco Alvarez.
Even when his whiff rate might have raised concerns and his average dipped in the minors, his pop was present.
In 2021 with High-A Brooklyn, he hit .247 but still managed to slug 22 home runs in 84 games.
He broke through in the majors in 2023, when he struck out in 26 percent of his at-bats, hit .209 but still drilled 25 home runs in 123 games.
