Facing a Raiders team that had just fired its coach, general manager and offensive coordinator, the once-proud New York Giants suffered a 30-6 beatdown Sunday by the Las Vegas Raiders.
One bettor at BetMGM Sportsbook faded new coach Antonio Pierce and the Raiders — who were 1.5-point favorites — with a $330,000 moneyline bet on the Giants’ sinking ship.
That bet all but went up in flames when Giants quarterback Daniel Jones went down with a non-contact knee injury on the first play of the second quarter. Jones was diagnosed Monday with a season-ending ACL tear.
Now, imagine the pain of watching Tommy Devito systematically and painfully make your money disappear.
That’s precisely what happened as Devito threw interceptions on two consecutive pass plays, setting up the Raiders to put the game out of reach against a hapless Giants offense.
Big Blue went down without much of a fight and now are are left to pick up the pieces of another lost season.
The Giants are now 2-7 and facing the prospect of selecting at the top of the 2024 NFL Draft, where many fans will clamor for a new quarterback to build around with head coach Brian Daboll.
When looking at the remainder of the schedule, it is hard to argue for many wins.
Perhaps they have a chance at home against the Patriots at home in Week 12 or against the Packers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 14 as they come off of the bye week.
It’s possible backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor and/or tight end Darren Waller could return for that Packers matinee matchup, although there may be not much reason to do so.
Below is the Giants’ remaining 2023 schedule:
