The change from Tommy DeVito to Tyrod Taylor has been good for Darius Slayton.

Slayton hauled in an 80-yard touchdown pass from Taylor in the third quarter of Sunday’s 26-25 loss to the Rams at MetLife Stadium.

Last week, Slayton and Taylor connected on a 70-yard scoring pass in a 30-25 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Taylor put the ball in the air for a long, long time after he saw Slayton in one-on-one coverage by Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.

“I was running for a minute there,’’ Slayton said. “Tyrod must have thrown his whole shoulder out to get it there. He launched it at least 60-something yards, a bomb of a throw. That’s back-to-back weeks he’s done that for me now. Great ball by him and once I saw it in the sky I ran it down.

“The ball being out in front of me helped me to separate from the DB, along with God-given speed — thanks mom and dad — helped me out.’’

Slayton caught four passes for 106 yards and leads the Giants with 708 receiving yards this season.

Gunner Olszewski has done a good job stabilizing a shaky Giants punt return situation.

Olszewski’s 94-yard return was the second-longest in Giants history and the longest in 95 years.

Al Youngblood in 1928 scored on a 95-yard return — against the Pottsville Maroons.

“Any time you see a punt returner score a touchdown it’s 11 guys doing their job, so I appreciate those guys,’’ Olszewski said. “I just tried to catch the ball and get vertical right away and if something happens, something happens. I was lucky enough to come out of a tackle and then have guys in front of me.’’

Olszewski nearly was brought down early in the return but spun out of the congestion.

“If you ask me, I don’t think I’m ever close to going down,’’ he said.

Tyre Phillips went down on the first series with a knee injury and was replaced at right tackle by Matt Peart, who this week was activated from injured reserve.

It was the first game action for Peart since Week 5, when he hurt his shoulder.

Phillips was able to return for the next series but was forced out for good early in the fourth quarter and carted off the field with what looked to be a serious right knee injury.

“I don’t think it’s good,” coach Brian Daboll said. “He was hurting pretty good. He was in a lot of pain out there.’’

S Jason Pinnock left late in the first quarter with a foot injury and was not able to return.

CB Deonte Banks missed the first game of his NFL career as one of the Giants’ inactive players.

The rookie is dealing with a shoulder issue and was listed as questionable heading into the game.

He had started the first 15 games this season.

Nick McCloud started in place of Banks.

This was McCloud’s second start of the season.

He started eight games in 2022.

WR Parris Campbell was a healthy scratch for the fourth consecutive game as he closes out an insignificant one-and-done season after signing a one-year, $4.7 million contract.
