Gotham FC and its fans will get the New York championship celebration they didn’t have two years ago.

Fresh off winning their second NWSL title in three years Saturday night, Mayor Eric Adams announced Sunday that the city will host a championship ceremony on Monday at City Hall, where the team will be given the key to the city. Gates open at 9 a.m., and fans can register for free tickets online.

The city couldn’t logistically make a parade work because of preparations for Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day parade and Gotham was understanding about the situation, according to a team spokesperson.

Gotham had to squeeze the celebration in quickly before many of its players leave town for international duty, and due to the league-mandated CBA break.

“At a time when the rest of the country is sleeping on women’s sports, New York City stands tall and celebrates our champions. Gotham Football Club continues to make our city proud, and we will celebrate them like the champions they proved they are last night. This team embodies everything we love about women’s soccer — grit, skill, and pure determination,” Adams said in a release.

Gotham fans were upset two years ago when the team didn’t initially hold an organized celebration for the club’s supporters. After the outcry, the team apologized and held a trophy homecoming event at the team’s stadium in Harrison, N.J.

After entering the eight-team playoff as the No. 8 seed, Gotham stunned No. 1 Kansas City in extra time in the quarterfinals before taking out Orlando in the semis and defeating Washington in the final, 1-0. Rose Lavelle’s 80th-minute goal gave Gotham its second NWSL championship.
