Rural hybrid care provider Homeward announced the appointment of its first chief medical officer, Dr. Greg Burrell, a practicing internal medicine physician.
Burrell will oversee the company’s clinical and navigation strategy across quality assurance and markets, work to enhance the member experience and support healthcare systems.
He formerly served as chief medical officer at employer health benefits company Gravie, and was VP of clinical solutions and associate CMO at virtual healthcare company Accolade.
Burrell also cofounded virtual primary and urgent care provider Carbon Health, where he served as VP of clinical strategy and product and primary care medical director.
“Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey to rearchitecting the delivery of health and care in rural America as we welcome Dr. Burrell as Homeward’s first chief medical officer,” Homeward cofounder and CEO Dr. Jennifer Schneider said in a statement.
“Dr. Burrell’s clinical insight, experience building innovative clinical product offerings, and commitment to patient experience and care quality will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand to meet the healthcare needs of rural Americans.”
New York-based mental health platform Headway has hired Susan Chiang as chief information security officer.

Before that, she was part of the security leadership team at Uber and spent time in technology and healthcare consulting at Deloitte. She also holds security and strategy experience from working at Salesforce.
She will oversee Headway’s engineering, IT, and data privacy and security.
“I’m thrilled to join the team and leverage my cybersecurity and healthcare experience to help make it an even more trusted place for its providers and patients,” Chiang said in a statement.
“As not only a cybersecurity professional but also a patient myself, I deeply understand the importance of protecting medical data. I look forward to building a world-class engineering team that upholds providers’ and patients’ trust in Headway as the safest and most secure place for their medical data.”
