The Isles have been maddeningly inconsistent all season, but they do seem to have something going right now.
They have won their last two games against the Wild and Capitals by a combined score of 7-2, and their 5-on-5 numbers over the last stretch are pretty strong.
The Isles rank sixth in the NHL in expected goals difference over their last 10 games despite playing a tough schedule that included two games against Tampa Bay, one against Carolina and another with Washington.
If the Isles can continue that form, they will at least give themselves a puncher’s chance of racking up wins before the end of the season.
