John Rocker didn’t tussle with Patrick Mahomes’ father on their since-canceled fight day Friday, but he still used the day to take a shot at the famous family.
When reflecting on the would-be rumble in a post on X, the ex-MLB pitcher — originally slated to square off against Patrick Mahomes Sr. as part of Barstool Sports’ “Rough N’ Rowdy” promotion — took aim at the younger Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, who were speculated to have squashed the fight plans.
“Today is the day I was supposed to fight Pat Mahomes Sr.,” Rocker, 50, began.
“Instead of fighting today he backed out like a little bitch because his son and his loser wife decided it’d be a bad look to the family name for him to get in the ring.
“Bunch of f–king woke liberals.”
Rocker, a former Braves reliever, stirred buzz in February when he and Patrick Sr., a righty who threw for several MLB clubs including the Mets, were filmed getting into a heated exchange in New Orleans during Super Bowl week as the 29-year-old Mahomes and his Chiefs were decimated by the Eagles in the championship contest, 40-22.
When questioned by officials about the scuffle, Patrick Sr., 54, said it “was a staged altercation to get publicity for [a] celebrity boxing match that was set to take place in April 2025,” according to court docs obtained by TMZ.
The fight was later called off in February, with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy announcing the news on the “Unnamed Show,” where he surmised the three-time Super Bowl champ’s involvement.
“No, this fight is canceled,” Portnoy said at the time. “Mahomes’ agent — the football player — and Brittany, from what I am told, intervened and said, ‘There’s no way this fight happens; we’re going to cut this guy off if he does it.’”
One year before his New Orleans tiff with Rocker, Patrick Sr. was arrested on a charge of a DWI for a third time or more. The incident transpired days before Mahomes and the Chiefs topped the 49ers in Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas.
He served time in October 2024.
Mahomes is currently preparing for his ninth season in the league and is looking to leave Kansas City’s nightmarish Super Bowl performance in the rearview.
The father of three has been married to Brittany, 29, since March 2022.
