MINNEAPOLIS — The Liberty can’t seem to catch a break on the injury front.
Kennedy Burke is the latest defending champion to suffer an injury that is expected to keep her out for at least several weeks.
Burke suffered a low-grade strain in her right calf, a source told The Post on Tuesday.
Burke missed the second half of Saturday’s game against the Sparks.
She was downgraded to “out” for Monday’s game with the injury designation of “rest.”
Burke underwent imaging in Dallas on Monday night, which revealed the strain. She’s expected to miss two to four weeks to allow for a full recovery ahead of September.
Burke is one of several players whom the Liberty will be without for the foreseeable future.
Breanna Stewart went down with a right leg injury early in Saturday’s game, which was the second game of a back-to-back.
Imaging revealed that Stewart avoided “significant injury,” but there’s no clear timeline for when she might return. The three-time WNBA champion watched Monday’s meltdown in Dallas from the bench.
Nyara Sabally is also expected to miss the next two to three weeks as the team tries to get her as close to 100 percent ahead of the playoffs.
Burke’s injury is disrupting what has been a career season for the 28-year-old guard/forward.
She’s averaging career highs in points (8.4), rebounds (2.3), assists (1.2) and steals (1.1) while shooting 49.6 percent from the field, 47.5 percent from deep and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
