Lenovo partners with Rendever to advance senior care and more AWE2024 announcements

Lenovo is partnering with Boston-based Rendever, a virtual reality company focused on the aging population, to implement VR technology into hospice care provider Carolina Caring’s offerings.

Through Rendever’s platform, users can participate in group sessions to share virtual reality immersive experiences aimed at building social connections and decreasing social isolation.

Rendever’s immersive offerings will be delivered on Lenovo’s ThinkReality VRX headsets at Carolina Caring.

“For us, it’s all about delivering magical moments that ignite new relationships and conversations that ultimately lead to healthier, happier lives. It’s exciting to see the rising tide of VR hardware providers joining our mission to enhance the lives of older adults. Partnering with Lenovo to service Carolina Caring has been a delight, and we’re thrilled for the future,” Rendever CEO and cofounder Kyle Rand said in a statement.

Surgical training platform Fundamental VR will integrate AI capabilities into its Fundamental Surgery platform, allowing data to be obtained and leveraged to drive predictive insights and enhance one’s skills and surgical performance.

The offering includes machine learning models that can help calculate a user’s risk of harming patients and provide guidance on real-time intervention and correction within the training experience.

“By focusing on learner autonomy and personalized, adaptive learning support, we are able to cultivate user engagement while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.”

VR-enabled patient education platform HouseCall VR announced it is partnering with the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy (UGACoP) to develop virtual reality education models for diabetes education to improve patients’ understanding of pharmaceutical treatments.

HouseCall VR’s platform seeks to improve treatment plans by educating patients using immersive technology.

Through the partnership, HouseCall VR will work with faculty members at UGACoP to develop diabetes-focused education modules on medication mechanisms, consequences of medication noncompliance and adherence barriers.

“HouseCall VR envisions a future in which immersive technologies empower patients to better understand their health,” Linda Ciavarelli, president and cofounder of HouseCall VR, said in a statement. “By leveraging VR, HouseCall aims to democratize healthcare education, making it accessible across multiple platforms and reaching patients wherever they may be.”
