Lions defensive tackle Brodric Martin and his fiancée, Teekay Howard, welcomed baby girl Sykila Mae into the world on March 15.
The delivery came about two months after the couple had a romantic photoshoot that was captured by Detroit-area photographer RJ Creations.
“God blessed and entrusted us with one of his beautiful children,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post to announce the birth of their baby girl.
“We are extremely excited and honored to be able to call her our babygirl, our ‘good luck charm’, our miracle, our Sykila Mae.”
In January, the couple posed for some jaw-dropping photos, with Martin shirtless and Howard sporting her baby bump, as the couple appeared deeply in love amid their growing family.
Martin, 24, appeared in three games for the Lions last season, after getting selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky.
“He just has, like we say, he’s got a lot of meat on the bone,” Lions general manager Brad Holmes said of Martin after he was drafted, as covered by the Lions’ website.
“He’s got a lot of upside. He’s a big man, he’s athletic, he plays hard. He chases to the ball. I don’t think I’ve seen many 330-, 340-pound guys run to the ball like he does and so when you get that — he’s got some rawness, but we’re really excited about his upside.”
Martin told the team website that he wants to mimic a body transformation similar to that of fellow defensive lineman Alim McNeill.
“It’s a big transformation he made,” Martin said of McNeill’s offseason regimen last year. “Going into Year 3 it was a huge transformation for him. Obviously made him a better player. So, it’s something I’m definitely going to hone in on and try to do.”
