Manulife, Maven Clinic partner for expansion of women’s health services

Manulife Canada, a financial services provider, is partnering with Maven Clinic, a virtual care clinic for women, to provide Manulife Group Benefits plan members with access to Maven’s digital programs.

Maven Clinic focuses on supporting women and families in areas such as fertility, family building and planning, maternity and newborn care, parenting, pediatrics and menopause.

In the fall, Manulife Group Benefits plan members enrolled in Maven will have 24/7 virtual access to Maven’s platform that will connect them to a global network of providers in more than 30 specialties. The services will be available in 35 languages.

Maven aims to help women and families navigate the Canadian healthcare system via its digital platform, including assisting members in finding in-person care.

Maven’s offerings are constructed around four key pillars: fertility and family building, which helps individuals and couples navigate their family-building goals, including support for preconception, fertility treatment and surrogacy; and maternity and newborn care, which offers support during pregnancy, postpartum and return to work periods as well as access to virtual, non-medical consultation with OB-GYNs.

Other offerings include parenting and pediatrics, which provide resources and consultations for parenting challenges and pediatric care; and menopause and midlife health, offering support through various phases of menopause, including midlife health support for men, as well as mental health and sexual health.

“Together with Maven, Manulife is not just responding to gaps in women’s and family health, we are redefining what comprehensive support looks like during key life transitions like family planning and menopause,” Jennifer Foubert, head of product at Manulife Group Benefits, said in a statement.

“We are proud to be the first insurance company in Canada to offer these important programs through Maven that will help our members access personalized and holistic support and navigation when they feel they need it most, wherever they are on their journey.”

Stephanie Glenn, chief commercial officer for Maven Clinic, explained that as an organization, Maven Clinic set out to address the fragmented experiences women and families frequently face in healthcare by offering a holistic approach including tailored support.

“By expanding our global footprint with partners like Manulife, Maven is thrilled to deliver personalized guidance and assistance to Manulife members across Canada,” Glenn said in a statement.

THE LARGER TREND

In 2024, Maven Clinic expanded its fertility and family-building program to address the needs of individuals seeking support for conception outside of traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF) methods.

The company introduced Trying-To-Conceive health coaching, a program that provides essential assistance to those facing conception challenges.

The company also launched the Maven Provider Portal, a component of the Maven Managed Benefit platform.

That same year, AT&T expanded its partnership with Maven, initially established in 2021, to offer its more than 125,000 employees 24/7 access to Maven Clinic’s virtual fertility and family-building support services, including guidance on egg freezing, adoption, IVF, surrogacy and preconception. The collaboration gave AT&T employees the ability to connect with providers in more than 35 specialties and connect with a care advocate who can help one navigate their benefits.

Also, in 2024, WellTheory, a virtual care platform for individuals with autoimmune diseases, announced its first employer partnership with Maven Clinic, offering the virtual women’s and family health provider’s employees access to nutrition and lifestyle coaching through WellTheory.

Through the collaboration, Maven Clinic employees have access to one-on-one video sessions, a collaborative care team through WellTheory and unlimited messaging for longitudinal care.
