Maryland and Virginia were longtime ACC rivals before the Terrapins bolted for the Big Ten in 2014.
The Terrapins and Cavaliers are meeting on the gridiron for the first time since 2013 on Friday night in College Park with Maryland listed as a shade over a two-touchdown favorite.
Virginia was blown out in its season opener against Tennessee, 49-13 as a 27.5-point underdog in Nashville.
The Cavaliers were outgained, 499-201, and allowed the Volunteers to pick up 29 first downs.
Virginia showed more last week in its home opener against up-and-coming in-state rival James Madison.
The Cavaliers trailed 14-0 out of the gate as 6.5-point underdogs but rallied to take a 35-24 fourth quarter lead.
Unfortunately, JMU scored the final 12 points of the game for the 36-35 win, but UVA grabbed the cover.
Betting on College Football?
The Terrapins have failed to cover heavy points spreads in their first two games, but Virginia’s defense has been torn up so far this season.
Following Virginia’s tough loss last week to JMU, this may be a difficult spot for the Cavaliers to get up for, even against a regional foe.
The play: Maryland -14.5
