An early favorite has emerged to be Michigan’s next head coach.

And its a wild one.

After the shocking firing of Sherrone Moore, Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer has quickly turned up as the top candidate for the job, according to Kalshi, a New York-based financial exchange and prediction market.

With several names being floated about, DeBoer, whose team is set to play Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff later this month, currently has a 41 percent chance at landing the job as of this writing.

Those are the best odds on the market, which has attracted more than $170,000 just hours after going live Wednesday evening.

But there’s plenty of other coaches in the mix.

Washington’s Jedd Fisch has the second-best odds at 20 percent.

Fisch is followed by Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham at 12 percent, who is just ahead of another intriguing name, former NFL coach Jon Gruden at 7 percent.

Recently fired Giants head coach Brian Daboll, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter are also lingering as potential options to be the next leader on the Wolverines’ sidelines.

Michigan is on the hunt for a new coach after dropping a bombshell and parting ways with Moore on Wednesday.

The university let go of Moore after saying it found “credible evidence” that the football coach had been involved in an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

Hours after his firing, Moore was detained in Saline, Michigan, and is now being investigated by police over potential charges.

It’s unclear what charges Moore could be facing.

Biff Poggi was named interim head coach of the Wolverines.

Michigan will play Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
