Myles Garrett takes jab at Aaron Rodgers, Steelers after not breaking NFL sack record

Myles Garrett is saying there is a reason why he didn’t break the sack record on Sunday while simultaneously throwing shade at Aaron Rodgers.

Heading into the game, the four-time All-Pro defensive end was only one sack shy of setting the NFL single-season record. With 22 sacks across 15 games, he was half a sack away from tying the all-time mark shared by Michael Strahan and Steelers’ TJ Watt.

Garrett wanted to break the record by getting a big hit on Rodgers in the backfield, however he did not get a sack in the Browns’ 13-6 win over the Steelers.

He had someone to blame for the sack-less game.

“I mean, to an extent. I feel like they were more worried about keeping me away from Aaron [Rodgers] than getting the win, and I think that’s what came back to bite him,” Garrett said per ESPN. “So, they’ll have to fight it out with Baltimore next week. But I’m just proud of the guys for fighting and getting this one. That’s the main thing. And I’m always going to keep it that.”

Rodgers didn’t leave the game unscathed, however.

He was sacked twice — one each for safety Grant Delpit and defensive end Alex Wright.

Garrett finished the game with one tackle and a quarterback hit. The record breaking moment will be pushed to a game against the Bengals in Week 18.

With the loss to the Browns, the Steelers are set for a crucial clash against the Ravens next week, which will determine the winner of the AFC North and who will move on to the playoffs.
