Paul Pierce swears off bets after 20-mile walk of shame

It’s safe to say that Paul Pierce regrets his decision to bet on his former team.

Pierce, 47, made good on his promise to undergo an hourslong walk to work in his robe after being wrong about his prediction that the Celtics would take Game 2 over the Knicks on Wednesday.

He said there’s one thing he’s never doing again.

“I ain’t never putting a bet on something like this ever again,” Pierce said on Instagram live upon finally arriving in the Fox parking lot. “I feel like I accomplished something crazy at the end of the day.”

“Not everyone has the mental capacity to do what I did,” he added.

The Celtics great promised on the set of FS1’s “Speak” that he would walk to the studio in his bathrobe the following day if the Celtics went down 2-0 against the Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

“If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I promise you I’m walking here tomorrow … 15 miles,” Pierce said the night of the game. “In my robe, no shoes on, bare feet.”

Pierce was in fact wearing shoes for his walk Thursday, according to photos obtained by The Post.

The distance from Pierce’s home to the “Speak” studio amounted to a total of 20.2 miles, taking him over eight hours to complete.

“I can’t believe this, Celtics got me out here like this,” the 10-time NBA All-Star said during his walk. “I’m really walking out here like this. I got a long walk to go.”

Pierce was drafted by Boston in 1997 and spent 15 seasons with the team.

He won the 2008 NBA Finals and was named Finals MVP.

Pierce was steadfast in the Celtics tying the series on Wednesday, saying on the “Speak” podcast, “You got a better chance walking out of the studio and seeing a dinosaur,” rather than the Knicks winning.

The Celtics, who shot just 25 percent from beyond the arc during Game 2, suffered a heartbreaking 91-90 loss to the Knicks on Wednesday.

Boston, which won the 2024 NBA Finals, is now just two losses away from being knocked out of the playoffs.

The Celtics are set to face off against the Knicks for Game 3 on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
