Randy Moss cries during emotional ESPN return at Super Bowl 2025

It’s an emotional Super Sunday for Randy Moss.

The NFL legend and ESPN analyst, who stepped away from the network two months ago after undergoing cancer surgery, returned to “Postseason NFL Countdown” hours before Super Bowl 2025 between the Chiefs and Eagles and was in tears after ESPN played a welcome-back video featuring well wishes from Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Justin Jefferson and others.

Moss, 47, was in tears after the video ended, wiping them away with a tissue as he sat in the middle of Mike Greenberg, Rex Ryan, Alex Smith and Tedy Bruschi.

“You already know it’s the big crybaby here,” Moss said. “It’s been hard, but I’ve got a lot of love and a lot of people believing in me.”

Moss said it was his goal to be at Super Bowl 2025 after announcing in December that he was a “cancer survivor,” having had a cancerous mass removed from his bile duct, between his liver and pancreas.

“I felt all the prayers coming through there,” Moss said at the time. “You prayer warriors, all my teammates. I’ve seen everting you guys tweeted at me. All the prayers. All the well wishes.”

Moss, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, has the second-most receiving touchdowns (156) and fourth-most receiving yards (15,292) in NFL history.

He had seven standout seasons with the Vikings before playing two rocky years for the Raiders.

Moss then joined the Patriots and revitalized his career with Tom Brady, setting a single-season NFL record with 23 receiving touchdowns in 2007.

He joined ESPN in 2016 after beginning his television career with Fox Sports.
