Saints tight end Jimmy Graham will not be charged over an incident in which he was walking erratically on the streets of Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the Orange County district attorney’s office told ESPN that Graham will not face charges since prosecutors had insufficient evidence to prove his guilt.
Graham, 36, was arrested last month on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance near a resort where the Saints were staying for a preseason game against the Chargers.
He was caught on camera evading security officers before he was arrested.
At the time, the Saints issued a statement saying that Graham likely had suffered from a seizure.
“New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham experienced a medical episode last evening, which resulted in him becoming disoriented,” the team said.
“He was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation for what Dr. John Amoss believes to be a likely seizure and spent the night under medical supervision and testing.”
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Graham was appreciative that the Los Angeles Police Department wrapped up the case expeditiously.
“Thanks for [the] LAPD and just how quickly kind of everything went down and kind of how helpful they were through the process,” he said, per ABC News. “Right now, we’re just dealing with that all personally.”
He declined to elaborate more on the circumstances of the incident.
“Yeah, it’s kind of a personal health thing and I’m just going to keep it to myself. I’ll be fine,” Graham said. “I’m just looking forward to putting it behind me.”
Graham has had a 12-year NFL career in which he’s played for the Saints, Seahawks, Packers and Bears.
He is a five-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro.
Graham re-signed with the Saints in July following a two-year hiatus from the league.
