Shedeur Sanders isn’t here for the “sabotage” theories.

When speaking to the media Wednesday, the rookie starting quarterback for the Browns accused a reporter of stirring the pot after stating, “All of your supporters out there say that [head coach] Kevin Stefanski was sabotaging you.”

“So you just want to start trouble, huh?” Sanders said.

When the reporter replied “no,” he then pressed the fifth-round pick about his relationship with Stefanski as he prepares for his second Browns start.

“Well, what people do outside the building isn’t really in my control, it’s not in my power, so, you act like I go out there and tell ’em to do whatever, that’s not nothing I can control, or nothing I can do,” Sanders said. “Overall, I’m just happy to be here. Coach Stefanski’s been coaching since I got here and been doing a very great job with everything that’s going on,” Sanders said.

The 23-year-old son of Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Shedeur was one of the most high-profile prospects entering this year’s draft before sliding to the fifth round, when Cleveland selected him 144th overall.

He was initially listed as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart behind veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Although Sanders saw playing time in the preseason, in-game decisions — notably the quarterback being pulled before a potential two-minute drill in an exhibition contest against the Rams — fueled a narrative that personnel was sabotaging the polarizing prospect.

“I’m committed to his development, just like all of our rookies,” Stefanski said of the conspiracy theories in August. “We’ll continue to focus on getting our guys better. That’s what we will stay committed to, and that’s what’s important to me.”

Sanders was tapped as the Browns’ starting quarterback before last week’s game after Dillon entered concussion protocol.

Rangers threw for 209 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 24-10 victory over the Raiders in Week 12. Stefanski turned to Sanders for the following game against the 49ers.

Sanders said Wednesday his relationship with Stefanski “has grown.”

“He tells me what I need to do on and off the field. We’ve definitely grown, our relationship and everything has grown,” he said. “I’m just thankful to be here.”
