Quarterback Marcel Reed announced Friday that he will return to Texas A&M for the 2026 season.

Channeling the famed Michael Jordan press release from 1995, Reed confirmed he will remain with the Aggies rather than entering the NFL draft or transferring elsewhere.

Reed made the declaration on Instagram, posting a simple statement echoing the basketball icon’s famous return: “I’m back.”

He added: “Where the heart is. Let’s finish what was started Aggieland!” to signal his ongoing commitment to Texas A&M.

The redshirt sophomore completed a breakout 2025 season as one of the nation’s more productive dual-threat quarterbacks.

This past season, he threw for 3,169 yards with 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

On the ground, he added 493 rushing yards on 104 carries, adding six rushing scores across 13 starts.

Reed ranked fourth in the SEC in passing touchdowns and was among the conference leaders in passing yards and efficiency.

Reed helped engineer Texas A&M’s 11-2 season, which included an 11-0 start and the Aggies’ first College Football Playoff appearance in school history.

The 2025-26 campaign ended with losses to rival Texas in the regular-season finale and to Miami in the CFP first round. Reed threw four interceptions and no touchdowns over those final two games.

The Aggies will likely return Reed as the centerpiece of an offense undergoing change ahead of next season.

Texas A&M will have a new offensive coordinator, Holmon Wiggins, after Collin Klein departed to become Kansas State’s head coach.

Wiggins has been A&M’s wide receivers coach for the last two seasons.

The team also faces turnover in its receiving room, with top wideout KC Concepcion entering the NFL draft after recording over 900 yards this past season.

Reed will return with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
