Tommy DeVito taunted by Saints players with hand gesture after sacks

Tommy Cutlets is not a hit in New Orleans.

Rookie Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito was mocked repeatedly in the first half of the Giants’ game against the Saints on Sunday, as a pair of New Orleans players sarcastically made his “Tommy Cutlets” hand gesture after sacking the QB.

First, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon made the move after bringing down DeVito in the second quarter, one of four New Orleans sacks before halftime.

On the same ill-fated drive, rookie defensive tackle Bryan Bresee sacked DeVito and made a similar hand gesture.

The sarcastic hand gesture is in response to DeVito’s signature move that he’s displayed after throwing touchdown passes during his surprising ride as the new Giants quarterback.

DeVito, signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent after he didn’t get selected in this year’s draft, has emerged as a star — at least for now — helping lead the Giants, who were 2-8, to three straight wins heading into Sunday’s game in New Orleans.

DeVito was thrust into action due to injuries to Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor, but kept the starting job even after Taylor returned to health.

Living at home in New Jersey with his parents, DeVito has become a cult hero in the same vein as Jeremy Lin with the Knicks in 2012.

The Giants entered Sunday still technically alive in the NFC playoff picture, thanks in large part to the spark provided by DeVito, but the Saints are clearly unimpressed.
