Travis Hunter celebrated his big night Saturday with his longtime supporter at his side.
Upon being named this year’s Heisman Trophy winner, the two-way Colorado Buffaloes star shared an intimate moment with fiancée Leanna Lenee, who posted a handful of photos from the New York festivities on Instagram.
“Winner winner chicken dinner,” she captioned the couple’s snapshots, to which Hunter replied, “What they gone say now.”
Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback, defeated Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel for college football’s most prestigious honor.
The 21-year-old’s win marked the fifth time this century a quarterback was not awarded the Heisman Trophy.
Hunter, possibly the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, gushed over Lenee and loved ones in his acceptance speech on Saturday.
“I never thought I’d be in this position,” Hunter said, according to NFL.com. “It’s crazy. Your belief will take you a long way. It’s actually crazy, man. Thank you, thank you, thank you. First, I want to thank my fiancée and my mother. They’ve been with me since the first time I had surgery my first year of college. They never took a step away from me. All the hard hours. All the hard days. All the times I didn’t want to wake up and even get on my phone, look at football, y’all stayed with me. I’m very thankful for y’all.”
In the days leading up to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, Hunter — whose engagement to Lenee was revealed in February — spoke about the couple’s relationship following a viral postgame moment in November.
“She’s my closest to everything, she helped me with everything,” Hunter said on a recent installment of “The Pivot Podcast.” “It’s kind of hard sometimes but she’s always there.”
Lenee cheered on Hunter during a dominant season with the Buffaloes, recording 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns.
