Underdogs absolutely dominated during the NFL’s Week 14 action.
The ‘dogs went 10-4-1 against the spread and 8-7 on the moneyline during the slate in what was their best week of the NFL season, according to BetMGM’s John Ewing.
Week 14 opened with a shocking upset by the New England Patriots, who were 5.5-point underdogs against the Steelers in Pittsburgh on “Thursday Night Football.”
The Pats took down the Black and Yellow, 21-18, covering the spread and getting the W.
Sunday’s action saw five upsets, including blowout wins by the Jets over the Texans and Broncos over the Chargers, both as three-point underdogs.
The two-point underdog Bills also got the win against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium during one of the marquee matchups of the week.
Favorites were already having a miserable week before Monday night’s doubleheader rolled around, but it got even worse from there.
The Tommy DeVito-led New York Giants took down the Green Bay Packers 24-22, which, somehow, kept their playoff hopes alive.
The Packers, who had won three straight, came into the game as 5.5-point road favorites.
In Monday’s other game, the Dolphins entered as 13.5-point favorites, which was the second-biggest spread of the week, and -900 on the moneyline against the Titans in South Florida.
Leading by 14 points with under three minutes left in the game, it looked like Miami would walk away with the win.
Betting on the NFL?
But that’s when things fell apart.
Tennessee pulled off a miracle comeback to beat the Dolphins 28-27, topping off a wild week of football and a profitable one for underdog bettors.
Overall this season, betting on the ‘dogs hasn’t been quite as beneficial.
Heading into Week 15’s action, underdogs are 95-102-11 ATS and 69-139 straight up, per Covers.com.
