An already-dramatic Eagles offseason could see more upheaval.
While defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had been mulling retirement toward the end of the Eagles season, which ended in a wild-card loss to the 49ers, the team still has yet to receive a final decision from Fangio, per The Philadelphia Inquirer.
There was a wishy-washy commitment by Fangio for 2026 that came with the caveat that he could change his mind, according to the report.

However, Fangio also brought up the topic last year as well, and ended up coming back.
It all still seems to be up in the air, but the Eagles are starting to consider other options in the case Fangio does leave Philadelphia.
The Eagles were interested in a Jonathan Gannon reunion before he took the Packers defensive coordinator job. Gannon was the Eagles’ DC in 2021 and ’22 before he became the Cardinals head coach; he was fired last month after three losing seasons and a 15-36 record.
Philadelphia also reportedly planned to check in with Jim Schwartz, who was reportedly furious after being passed over for the Browns’ head coaching gig and wants out; the Browns hired Todd Monken as their new head coach.

Schwartz is under contract and the Browns are reportedly hoping he returns.
After winning the Super Bowl last year, drama surrounded the Eagles all season as their offense struggled and wide receiver AJ Brown openly complained about his role. Philly went 11-6 and won the NFC East for the third time in four years but they lost at home to the 49ers in the wild-card round.
Head coach Nick Sirianni stripped Kevin Patullo of his offensive coordinator duties, though it was unclear if Patullo would remain on the staff in a different role. The team hired Sean Mannion as its new offensive coordinator.
Meanwhile, the Eagles lost passing game coordinator Christian Parker to the rival Cowboys, who made him their new defensive coordinator, taking away a potential Fangio replacement option.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo previously reported on “The Anthony Gargano Show” that Fangio was close to retiring following the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory last year.
More check-ins may be planned as time goes on without a final decision from Fangio.
